Samar – A Hidden Paradise

Have you ever wanted to explore parts of our planet where nobody has ever been? These days, unless you to venture far north to the Arctic Circle or far south to the Antarctic, chances are somebody has been there and done that. With the exception of the deep sea, the Amazon Rainforest (which consists of 50% of our earth’s rainforests) and the Central Range, New Guinea, are impenetrable in places due to hills and thick vegetation and are yet to be fully explored. Other than these few locations, unexplored land is limited but there are still some unexplored places. Caves are one of them.

Did you know that Samar is the caving capital of the Philippines? Don’t feel bad, I didn’t either until I began this research. Of the estimated one thousand caves in Samar, only 100 are believed to have been explored. So there you go. If you feel the need to go where no man has gone before…go spelunking in Samar.

For more information about exploring Samar’s caves and other adventures, one should go straight to the expert – Mr. Joni Bonifacio of Catbalogan City, Samar.  Easier yet, visit his information rich and photo packed website Trexplore Adventures.

See you in Samar! 🙂
