U.S. / Philippines Sign EDCA (Defense Cooperation Agreement)

Earlier today (Monday April 28th), in advance of President Barak Obama’s visit to the Philippines, US Ambassador Philip Goldberg and Philippine Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin signed the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA). This agreement will allow the U.S. access to basing in the Philippines in a way that will assist in building out the Philippine defenses and enhance security cooperation the U.S.
